Jester Hat

I finished my Jester hat, really in the pattern book it is called Carousel Hat. It looks like a big cupcake. But it goes well with the Jester booties. Now I just have to find someone to give them to. I may save them for the Orono Fall Fair. My sister, Kath and I want to enter a bunch of items in the craft section. What to knit next? I am thinking of using a pattern from Kaffe Fassett, I have a pattern book of his. I love the patterns but I may use brighter colours than he does. But I have a few patterns from Morehouse Farm which are really cute. I want to do the Wormy Apple scarf but it can wait till tomorrow.

I have to drive to west Toronto tomorrow. Hugh forgot his keys at my cousin's house (at the 50th Anniversary Party) and hopefully I can meet him at his work place to pick them up.

Party

Last night the whole family went to my Aunt and Uncle's 50th Wedding Anniversary Party. We had a great time. It was so nice to see everyone. I can't believe it has been 50 years! My cousins came in from Las Vegas and Kenora. My Great Aunt turned 92 two weeks ago and she is still living in her own home.

I found out that my cousin's wife is really into Genealogy so we are going to share information. She has more (lots) on the Grant side where as I have some on the Williams side.

It was a great evening. The food was fantastic. Even my husband commented on how much he enjoyed himself.

Lion Brand

I have been using this website recently Lion Brand Yarn. They have lots of great free patterns. My sister is crocheting little animals for her cats to play with and there are lots here. You could always use lots of different colours. You do have to create an account but it is free.

Last night we had the Ajax Ice Waves Synchronized Skating End of Year Party. There were lots of presentations and food. The girls received these very cute year books with everyone's pictures and pictures of the events. Two more practices and one competition and we will be finished for the year.

Budget Taxes

How about that Budget? What is being poured back in economy now, we will pay for after July 2010. I did a quick calculation on the amount of gas we used from June 2008 to December 2008 - it was $2,446.70. If we had to pay an extra 8% tax on that, you can just add another 195.00 dollars. And that is just 6 months of our gas, that doesn't include gas for the house or electricity! I don't think $1,000 covers it. I just did the Ontario Tax Relief Calculator, we will get the $1,000 for a family and $502 in the proposed ongoing tax relief. Wow.

On a different note, I finally finished my little jester booties, they are very cute. I have now started a hat to match them. I just have to find someone to give them to.

First Post

Wow, my first blog. It is so exciting. I wanted to show off the hat I recently knit. I knit it for a contest at a new wool shop in Bowmanville called Soper Creek Yarn. I called the hat, my 'Whoville' hat. It is very Dr. Seuss. There were 3 second place knitting items which I was one of. My sister, Kath, placed 1st with her tea cozy. I had to buy more of the wool I used in the contes, the colours looked so nice together but I can't decide what to knit.
