I am so looking forward to dinner tonight. I bought a huge ground beef and cooked up 2/3's of it with taco seasoning, salsa, onions, celery and of course, the juice from a tin of pineapples. Yes, we have pineapple with our tacos. Hugh being British never had tacos at home until I introduced him to them. Hugh added the pineapple to our tacos many years ago and it has always stuck. I did add a couple of packages of soya mince to the mixture also. It just seems like too much red meat to eat at one sitting. There will be plenty of leftovers so I bought large tortilla shells. I will put together a couple of dishes of enchiladas. All this talk of Mexican food is making me hungry for Hernando's Hideaway on Yonge Street.
The other third of beef I just fried up with some onions, celery and another package of soya mince. That one is in the freezer, the in case of what do we cook for dinner.
We did manage to make up a menu this week, something we haven't done in a while. In this way we can buy the groceries we actually need for the week. I did find frozen pizzas on sale, our favourite ones, McCain Crescendo Rise 'n Crust, only $2.97. A very good deal so I bought 15. We will actually go back and buy some more. If we take them out of the boxes, we can fit more in the freezer. We have pizza every Friday night and ordering out for it, is just too expensive. But the children do like these ones.

What a Week!!!!
What a week, last week that is! Detta was sick on Tuesday; she had a bit of a cough and felt a bit hot so she stayed home.
Then on Wednesday night, Donovan and Miles were horsing around, what’s new. But then Miles ran into the bathroom and shut the door. Donovan charged after and put his arm through one of the glass panes. At least the panes had a protective plastic coat on it so the glass just broke away from him. Donovan only ended up with a load of scratches down his arm.
Also on Wednesday night, Detta fell at skating, backwards and smacked her head on the ice, though I didn’t find this out until Thursday morning. I even picked up Detta after skating and went to Pathfinders and she didn’t say a word. Anyways Detta stayed at home on Thursday, her head was still sore and her shoulders were aching.
Now to Friday morning, Donovan and I were horsing around. I told Donovan to do some sit-ups but I guess he grabbed his head and gave it a good tug to pull himself up. Well I guess he pulled himself very hard and hurt his neck. At first he wouldn't move so I picked him up. He rested his head on my arm and then I laid him on the bed. After half an hour, Hugh tried to move but Donovan screamed and screamed. We just didn't know what to do so we called 911. The paramedics came and had a look at him but they felt no damage was done to his neck. So we kept him home. Hugh took him to the doctor later in the day and it was decided that he had pulled some muscles in his neck.
But on a good note, I made some cabbage rolls for the first time. I bought a green cabbage for 97 cents, it was huge. I used a recipe from the Joy of Cooking. The hardest part was getting the
cabbage into a pot of boiling water. I had one pot which was just big enough to fit the cabbage in but it was very ackward getting the cabbage back out again. I made 6 large cabbage rolls instead of 12, the leaves were so big. I followed the recipe for this batch. For the second batch, I added a load of vegies - courgettes, peppers, mushrooms. These cabbage rolls were smaller and I made about 10. The only thing was once we had one of the big cabbage rolls, we found them somewhat bland. Next time, I would definitely add something to them.

Dinner
Hugh and I had a great dinner last night with my sisters, Anne and Joan and their respective partners, Al and Tom. It was a clam bake but as we learned a clam bake is not baked clams! It had clams, mussels, shrimp, cherizo and frankfurters. It was delicious. There was also dessert of crème caramel. I am not a big fan of it myself but everyone else thought it was delicious.
Hugh bought a new barbeque. It only cost $99.00 from HomeDepot. Last year it sold for $350 so there are some good deals out there. Hugh is testing it out right now with some bbq chicken and ribs. Unfortunately I had a great lunch at Scrambles with Kath and am too full to have anything. But then again, Detta and I are off the to movies to see '17 again'. I don't even think I will have popcorn (unbelievable I know) but I may take a piece of fruit.
Kath has started knitting the cutest baby cardigan for a girl at her school. You can't quite see the colours, in this photo. The trim is fushia and bright green and the stripes are orange and yellow. I have the same wool so I am going to knit a matching hat. I did finish one of the other baby hats and another has all the ends sewn in. While Kath and I were out we stopped by the cute wool shop on Queen St E called The Purple Purl. Kath bought me a pattern for baby sneakers. I am also going to knit this girl a pair of matching sneakers for her baby. It was a lovely shop and nice seats for just coming in, knitting and chatting. There is also a cappuccino bar and good stuff to eat.
I tried a rib and they are delicious. The freezer has finished defrosting so I just need to give a good wipe down and Bob's your uncle.

Spring Cleaning
We have started some spring cleaning though other people would just call it regularly cleaning. Detta dusted and hoovered the front room and Miles dusted and hoovered the family room. They also hoovered the stairs and the landing. This is a new regular weekly chore for them. But once it is started regularly, the work won't take long. I cleaned the fridge. We had a bag of milk break last week though it was cleaned up some was missed. Tomorrow I will clean the shelves in the door. The fridge had been open long enough. I need to do the windows next. Unemployed nieces and nephew are more than welcome to come and help.
I have suspended any new knitting projects. I have several hats that need finished. They are all baby hats. The two on the right need petals knitted and sewn on. The two on the left need ends all sewn in and pom poms. I need my sisters to make the pom poms, I am not a pom pom maker, tassels yes but not pom poms. I also have to sew the ends in on my Jester Hat, Stone Circle and Celtic Knot hat.
My next project is this really cute baby blanket. I have tried to start it unsuccessfully. You start knitting from the centre and work out. It is really neat. I have some advice from Soper Creek and my sister's mother in law so hopefully after the hats are finished, I can start it (well maybe I will just do one or two hats first!).
Oh yes, we are defrosting the freezer today! And I have added the link to the Radio Times.

Freezer
I just found our freezer open. It has been like that since Thursday night. The children put the frozen pizzas in the freezer and one of them didn't quite get the pizzas in. Almost everything is defrosted. Looks like we are going to be eating a lot of meat over the next few days. Some of the meat can be cooked tomorrow and then eaten over the next few days. But all the pizzas were lost and all my WW frozen dinners which I only recently bought on sale. There were a lot of them. Two garabage bags full!!
